Economic DevelopmentKurdistan has historically suffered from a critical lack of economic development that has contributed to widespread poverty and suffering in the region. Tackling this issue is a fundamental concern for the Institute, which seeks to counter the effects of longstanding discrimination against Kurds and to lessen the burdens of government through involvement with business development, the provision of grants and loans, expert assistance in cultural and logistical concerns, and various other economic initiatives designed to aid the relief of traditionally underprivileged segments of Kurdish society.
In order to do so, the Institute is actively involved in providing vital information and services to organizations that are seeking to work in development throughout Kurdistan. Many areas in Kurdistan, such as northern Iraq, are undergoing a period of revitalization unlike any in Kurdish history and have all of the necessary foundations set to become a major center for trade, industrialization, and economic activity for the broader region of the Middle East and Central Asia. To facilitate these enterprises, the Institute has developed a resource center for companies and agencies with the capacity to compete for government and private grants to aid in development efforts in Kurdistan and to promote efforts to counteract years of discrimination throughout the region. The goal of this forum is to connect aid agencies and organizations looking to work in Kurdistan with the appropriate grantors. To receive access to the database, please email development@instituteforkurds.org
The Institute also has knowledgeable
staff and research capabilities to aid other organizations
that are considering working in Kurdistan. If
you have a project you would like to work with
the Institute on or would like to learn more about
these resources, please contact our staff or check
our online resources.
