Supporting Kurdish Universities & Colleges

One of the most difficult problems facing Kurds in the twenty-first century will be the ability of its population to overcome years of conflict and neglect in its educational centers. Thus, in its endeavor to improve the quality of general education and access to American studies in Kurdistan, the Institute provides logistical, technical, and financial support to educational organizations and universities within the Kurdish region. Specifically, the Institute is actively involved in efforts to provide English language training to Kurds, the exchange of teachers between Kurdish and American institutions, and the establishment of an American University of Kurdistan.

Providing this aid is a major project after years of conflict and neglect in the Kurdish regions, making support from the general public a vital necessity. Many of the textbooks in the region are outdated and there are few English language books available for those studying to enter American universities. The Institute currently accepts textbook donations for Kurdish universities and schools, which are tax deductible*

The Institute also works with Kurdish universities to exchange knowledgeable teaching staff and English language instructors to help rebuild the educational standards throughout the region. In order to set a new course for the Kurds, passionate and qualified instructors are recognized by Kurdish university administrators as being a vital piece of the overall revitalization of the educational system. Thus, not only is spending a year or more teaching at a Kurdish university a rewarding personal experience, but there are also extremely attractive benefits that come with taking such a position at this time. If you are interested in teaching abroad, Kurdistan is truly a gateway to the region with a friendly, welcoming population that is eager to engage Western teaching methods.
